Why a Referral Count Isn’t a Measure of Someone’s Worth
Metrics become dangerous the moment they start substituting for the person.
Measurement can improve judgment. It can reveal patterns, concentration, activity, timing, and outcomes that memory alone would miss. But metrics become dangerous when they substitute for the person — a referral count is not human worth, purchase frequency is not loyalty, network position is not moral authority.
